HI THERE, I’M RUTH!
For me being an artist means looking, exploring and discovering beauty in what I visually experience. As a child I loved the long walks in the Maltese countryside soaking in the sweeping landscape with its deep greens in winter and the jagged textures of the rocky coastline against the infinite variety of blues of the Mediterranean Sea. My journey took me to Bavaria in Germany, where I immediately felt drawn to the secretive forests and moors and to the wide expanses of a hushed countryside covered in snow.
Only later did I discover how to express the beauty I see through painting. And I found the perfect medium for my art process and the way I work – watercolour with its beautiful translucency and spontaneity. The joy and fascination I experience while working with watercolour is what keeps me wanting to explore more.
